A PUMA Brazil and the Sports Society Palm trees created two exclusive uniforms in support of June Green, a month dedicated to raising awareness about protecting the environment. The exclusive uniforms developed by the sports brand and the alviverde club were used on the field by the players in a match valid for the Brazilian Championship, between Palmeiras and Vasco last Thursday (13), at Allianz Parque. The new shirts are made from 100% recycled polyester and fabrics do not use bleach in their manufacturing process.
In the first half of the match, the players entered the field wearing shirts with a predominance of green and only a few white areas. When the team returned after the break, the second mantle was used, with a predominance of white, occupying what was previously green. The symbolism of changing uniforms refers to illegal deforestation and draws attention to the urgency of social mobilization in favor of the issue.
The new shirts are part of a kit that will be on sale only to Avanti fan members at Palmeiras Store stores, interested parties can purchase them virtually from the second half of the match and in physical stores. There are 1914 units, a quantity in reference to the year Palmeiras was founded. Each pair of shirts also has a sequential number applied to the bar, in reference to the corresponding unit of the kit. Still in honor of the historic year for the club, PUMA and Palmeiras will plant 1914 tree seedlings in a reforestation area.
“Palmeiras and PUMA come together, once again, to raise awareness among our millions of fans about an urgent and extremely important issue for all of us. We seek to draw society’s attention to the need to protect the environment, focusing mainly on combating deforestation of our forests. It is a fundamental warning for a greener and more sustainable future”, said president Leila Pereira.
The packaging for the kits was made by the institution Badu Design, in unique colors for each unit and an exclusive finish, the result of the use of reused materials. The lids reuse plastic packaging and the boxes are made from waste from export flooring. The PUMA and Palmeiras logos were engraved using laser technique, on plaques made from MDF waste.
“Concern with sustainability is present in everything we do and is a pillar we have in common with Palmeiras. We then created two shirts that raise the issue at an important moment with the aim of raising awareness among fans and the general population”, highlights the Marketing Director of PUMA Brasil, Luciana Soares.
