A Petlovea company specializing in products and services for animals, has just launched the ‘Petlove does not sell’ campaign, a movement against the sale of items that are harmful to animals. pets. In partnership with veterinarians, the campaign seeks to mobilize the public to stop using and purchasing products that can cause harm to pets, such as shock collars, contraceptives for females and counterfeit medicines, and encourage the use of safer alternatives .
“We believe that all products sold need to prioritize the animal’s comfort. Therefore, the campaign is based not only on what Petlove does not do internally, but also on what we want to discuss with guardians and other entrepreneurs about how to do better for the pet“, explains Talita Lacerda, CEO of Petlove.
In addition to combating the sale of harmful products, the campaign also takes a stand against the sale of pets in display cases or cages, a practice that can limit circulation and cause stress to the animals. According to the CEO, this action was planned over the course of a year to be launched on the company’s 25th anniversary, but it coincides with recent crises in the sector, such as the case of Cobasi in Porto Alegre (RS), where floods caused the death of animals trapped in cages, leading the Public Defender’s Office of Rio Grande do Sul to ask for compensation of R$50 million from the company.
Until this Thursday (4), guardians can discard items that are harmful to pets at Petlove stores in São Paulo (SP) and exchange them for a R$50 coupon on purchases. The project is carried out in partnership with Instituto Caramelo, an organization that promotes responsible adoptions and animal welfare. Together, they defined a list of harmful items and opened the debate for consumers to suggest other items considered dangerous.
