O Rock in Rio Brasil 2024 will take place on September 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21 and 22, with thousands of people at the Cidade do Rock. It will be the celebration of 40 years of the festival, which in 2022 received the title of Intangible Cultural Heritage by the City and State of Rio de Janeiro. There are already 22 editions held, more than 3.8 thousand artists scheduled, more than 11 million people in the audience and more than 130 days of magic since 1985.
Anyone who wants to be in the City of Rock in 2024 needs to plan, 300,000 tickets were sold, equivalent to six Maracanã stadiums, with the Rock in Rio Card and Club and Itaú pre-sales. After selling out tickets for the days in which Shawn Mendes, Katy Perry and Travis Scott headline the World Stage, the festival announced that September 14th, when Imagine Dragons performs, will close in 2 hours.
The first day to sell out, in just 37 minutes, was the last day of the festival, September 22nd, which has Shawn Mendes as headliner on Palco Mundo and Mariah Carey, closing Sunset. Next, September 20th, at 1:43 am, when Katy Perry closes the stage. Soon after, September 13th, at 1h56 minutes, when Travis Scott is the star of the night.

Rock in History – TIM and Eletromídia
In the year it celebrates its 40th anniversary, Rock in Rio will provide fans with an immersion into its history through a unique, innovative and fun experience. The festival presents ‘Rock in History’, the first interactive open-air museum in the world, in a project developed with TIM and in partnership with Eletromidia and implemented by Context, a creative technology company of the Dreamers Group.
The initiative not only celebrates the legacy of Rock in Rio, but also the city that hosts it, Rio de Janeiro, transporting users to a magical universe of an “augmented city”. Celebrating 40 years, 40 stories will be featured in digital and interactive locations throughout Rio de Janeiro, offering five formats of immersive content, elevating the fan experience to a unique level. They will be able to find 3D objects of gigantic proportions, exciting information and curiosities, virtual portals that will transport them to new digital universes, enchanting filters, exclusive audio and virtual scenarios ideal for capturing incredible photos.
In Barra and Copacabana, the public will see an interactive photo of the portico that was at the entrance to Cidade do Rock in 1985. At Aterro do Flamengo, there will be a representation of the Rota 85 cinema set, with video content about the history of the festival; fireworks playing the festival’s theme song will be on Copacabana Beach. At Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, there will be an interaction with digital spotlights that represent Rock in Rio’s title of being the first festival to illuminate the audience.
With less than 100 days to go until the next edition of Rock in Rio Brasil, the operator also announced the selection of ATENAS.ag to take care of its activations in the City of Rock. After making history by providing the first 5G experience at the world’s largest music and entertainment festival in 2022, weeks after the launch of the new network in Rio de Janeiro, the company is already preparing and imagining the possibilities of an even more technological and connected event.
In addition to the stand and activations, TIM will sponsor, for the first time, one of the festival’s amusement park rides: Mega Download, a 30-meter-high tower, one of the most radical attractions in Cidade do Rock. Brazil Day – Itaú
To celebrate and reinforce the commitment of two decades of partnership, Rock in Rio announces and Itaú Unibanco presents this unprecedented new platform: ‘Brazil Day’, which will take place on Saturday, September 21, 2024.
The biggest event in the history of Brazilian music already has a date and location: September 21, at the Cidade do Rock. From MPB to sertanejo, from trap to samba, from rock to funk, and many other styles, Rock in Rio announces Brazil Day: an unprecedented movement in the 40-year history of the world’s biggest music and entertainment festival, which embraces national music and a better world.
With a line-up made up only of Brazilian artists, Cidade do Rock will welcome names such as Capital Inicial, Pitty, Luan Santana, Ana Castela, Daniela Mercury, Ney Matogrosso, Filipe Ret, MC Ryan SP, Gloria Groove and many others. In total, 72 singers will be part of this historic moment in favor of unity to promote a better world, with music being a guiding thread and mobilizing agent for a broad call.
It will be through Brazil Day that Rock in Rio will work to draw the attention of an entire nation to two of the most pressing causes in the country today: the fight against hunger and overcoming poverty, in partnership with the NGOs Ação da Cidadania, which is already receiving donations of 1.5 million plates of food, and Gerando Falcões, which through the Favela 3D project will transform the lives of 250 families in the Buraco and Sessenta regions of Morro da Providência.
Through the action, 250 families, approximately 1,200 people living in the region, will benefit from initiatives that seek to strengthen social development and income generation, using a scalable and sustainable approach to the region’s development. The objective is to impact 150 families on professional qualification paths and lead another 125 to dignity, employing 95% of people in the region.
