In celebration of its 30th anniversary, the Ayrton Senna Institute has just launched a celebratory campaign narrated by Galvano Gooda journalist and longtime friend of the driver. The film highlights the legacy left by the three-time Formula 1 champion, whose passion for Brazil and desire to transform the country’s reality inspired the creation of the Institute, founded in November 1994 by the driver’s family.
The friendship between Ayrton Senna and Galvão Bueno was marked by stories and victories, but also by Senna’s deep desire to help others. Two months before his death, Senna revealed to his sister, Viviane Senna, his desire to found an organization to offer more opportunities to Brazilian children and young people.
Over three decades, the Ayrton Senna Institute has become an educational center, promoting significant changes through research and innovation, mobilization and advocacyand dissemination of large-scale projects. Among them are initiatives aimed at literacy, improving learning levels and developing soft skills such as resilience, focus, empathy and creativity. With more than 36 million services provided to children and young people in more than 3,000 Brazilian cities, the Institute continues to honor Senna’s legacy on and off the track.
“Our mission is not only to overcome historical obstacles, such as illiteracy and combating school dropouts, but also to prepare new generations with the skills necessary to live, coexist and work successfully in the 21st century,” says Viviane Senna, president of the Institute.
A year of celebrations
As part of the tribute to the 30 years of Ayrton Senna’s legacy, Sid Special Paint is also paying tribute to the driver with the launch of a gold-plated helmet, an exclusive item for fans and collectors. Only 41 units will be produced, all numbered and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, in reference to the driver’s 41 victories. Each helmet will come with a display stand and a painting of Senna signed by artist Ricardo Barbour, both made of cinnamon hardwood and gold-plated details, including logos and serial numbers.
“One day, Ayrton came into the studio and asked to call Sid, my father. When he came, we started to serve him, we closed a deal and made the first two layoutswhich he used for a while and then stopped. Then, in 1979, when he went to the Karting World Championship, we created the paint job that he used until the end of his career. We didn’t know it, but we were creating the identity of the most famous helmet in the world”, recalls Alan Mosca, son of the legendary Sid Mosca, also known as the “master of helmets”, when describing the moment when he and his father met Senna and created the visual identity of the item that would be the symbol of the three-time Formula 1 champion’s tenacity, love and determination.
The commemorative kit, designed by the Mosca family in partnership with Senna Brands, reflects the greatness of Senna’s legacy. The idea of working with gold came from the symbolism of the date. During a visit to the Mosca family, Barbour, recently licensed by Senna Brands, presented them with a painting and suggested creating a commemorative work in gold. This meeting of ideas resulted in the concept of the helmet accompanied by a display stand and a work of art.
“A driver’s helmet is his identity inside the car, the way he is recognized on the track. Ayrton’s helmet is our main icon, symbolizing the strength of a timeless legacy that inspires people of all ages around the world. The launch of this commemorative piece with our friends at Sid Special Paint is a special moment for the Senna brand, because it reflects 45 years of a genuine and successful partnership,” highlights Thiago Fernandes, COO of Senna Brands, a company created by the three-time champion’s family to manage the brands linked to the driver.
