Microsoft, DocuSign and Amazon top the list
A new survey by Cisco Talos has revealed the 30 global brands most used by hackers for email attacks.
The goal behind this type of scam is to trick victims into revealing their credentials or other sensitive information, abusing the popularity of global brands.
Among the 10 brands preferred by criminals are Microsoft, DocuSign, Amazon, Nortonlifelock, PayPal, Chase, Geek Squad, Home Depot, Adobe and Instagram.
The research also points to a wide range of techniques that criminal hackers use to pretend to be a company and embed big brand logos through emails to their targets, such as manipulating HTML source code or even more complex tactics that involve recovering remote servers.
