The month of July begins with a significant change in the corporate structure of Vector Zero. Partner of the company since 1989, Alberto Lopes is leaving the operation. Lopes was instrumental in bringing advertising production to the 3D animation studio founded by Sergio Salles and Alceu Baptistão in the 1980s. Over more than 30 years, Vetor Zero has evolved from a startup of technology to an innovative leader in computer graphics, training talent and maintaining an important position in the audiovisual sector.
Since its creation, Vetor Zero has stood out for the quality of its live actionanimation and motion design. The company has built an award-winning portfolio and established itself through the excellence of its productions.
“Without false modesty, I am confident in saying that our work has driven excellence in the creative audiovisual market, especially in animation,” comments the now former partner.
Alberto Lopes’ departure was developed during the recent post-pandemic period, in reflections on the market and after conversations with his work partners.
“Over the years, I stopped working as an executive producer and became a corporate executive. What I always liked about the job was the day-to-day, being involved in creation and production, and being able to contribute creatively to projects with a producer’s perspective. Our operation grew so much that I ended up moving away from what really motivates me,” explains Lopes.
Vetor Zero’s operations continue to be led by Sergio Salles (Serginho), multi-artist and director Gabriel Nóbrega, Alceu Baptistão and Mateus de Paula Santos. The latter leads the New York operation in the United States and was highlighted at Cannes Lions 2024, with a Grand Prix and four Golden Lions for the ‘Recycle me’ campaign for Coca-Cola, developed by the Ogilvy NYC agency. This campaign was filmed at Vetor’s studios in São Paulo (SP) and directed by Mateus and Gabriel.
“Alberto has always been a tireless partner and passionate about what he does, and he has contributed greatly to positioning Vetor in the market. In addition to being great friends, we have been partners and have learned a lot from each other. I wish him much success in his new paths,” says Mateus de Paula Santos.
Alberto Lopes’ departure marks the end of an era at Vetor Zero, but the production company remains strong and innovative in the market. The company’s history and successes are testament to its impact and leadership in the audiovisual sector, with expectations of continuing to create award-winning work in the future.
“Vetor continues to be essential in the market and will always be in my heart, as it was the place where I grew up and learned about everything that makes up my career. It was where I made friends and was able to be part of a dream team with my dear partners, and with our collaborators and partners who made this experience unforgettable. Long live Vetor Zero!” concludes Lopes.
