A Intelofficial technology partner of Paris 2024 Olympic Gamesannounced how its developments in Artificial Intelligence will improve the spectator experience and athlete participation in the games in the city of light.
At a special event in Paris, the company presented its technological innovations developed in recent years with the aim of providing interactive experiences for spectators at home and in stadiums. The company will use AI hardware and software, including its Xeon processors and AI accelerators such as OpenVINO.
The processors will also support 8K streaming, providing a glimpse into the future of high-definition live streaming. With AI automation, broadcasters will be able to deliver personalized digital content faster.
Advances have also made progress in accessibility for people with visual impairments, with the development of 3D models of sports centers for Paralympic athletes. These systems will enable indoor navigation with voice guidance via a smartphone app, and could expand to other areas.
“The Olympic and Paralympic Games are the world’s greatest showcase for athletes to push the boundaries of what is possible and achieve things we never imagined possible. This summer, Intel will accelerate its mission to bring ‘AI everywhere’ by demonstrating the powerful potential of AI to create immersive and interactive experiences at the Olympic Games,” said Sarah Vickers, director of Intel’s Olympic and Paralympic Games office.
For athletes, a notable feature is a pilot program that also uses AI and computer vision to analyze complex athletic exercises. This technology can assess and improve training by creating individualized profiles for athletes. Intel’s AI technology is also preserving the heritage of the Olympic Games by converting Olympic artifacts into 3D digital models.
“We’ve demonstrated how AI can improve performance, streamline operations and create unforgettable experiences. We’re showcasing the future of sports viewing and large-scale event management. The opportunities for AI are vast and ripe for forward-thinking companies to seize,” concluded Jean-Laurent Philippe, Intel’s Chief Technology Officer for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
