They are some of the most influential Latin artists and are also close friends. Which Anitta, Becky G and TINI do when they need to collaborate on music and talk about their projects to empower women in Latin America? They use WhatsApp voice messages to share ideas, experiences and strengthen their artistic expressions.
The three Latin artists helped transform culture in the region by making their voices heard beyond their music, amplifying messages about the importance of individual expression and leading the conversation about empowerment. To show how they boosted their personal connections, WhatsApp launches on March 4 the campaign “Escúchanos, Míranos – Ouçar Nos, Nos Vem”, with the three stars of Latin music.
The campaign includes a short video that shows how female singers use the app’s voice messages to stay connected, share experiences and creative ideas while collaborating to create music and support each other in a male-dominated industry. The video, which will be posted on WhatsApp’s official social media profiles and on the Instagram accounts of Anitta, Becky G, and TINI, uses WhatsApp’s blue microphone as a symbol of the power that the app’s features have to amplify the female voices of across Latin America, giving them a platform to speak out and promote progressive change.
“What I love about WhatsApp is that I can express myself as I would in person, whether it be with a sticker, an emoji or sending a voice message. This is especially important for someone who is constantly traveling from city to city. I need to be able to communicate with my team, my producer, fellow artists and of course my family.” anitaof Brazil.
The video was filmed in Las Vegas on November 19, 2021, the day after the Latin Grammy Awards. It features an original soundtrack created by two of the leading Latin music producers, Ali Stone from Colombia and Tiffany Romanian Louk from Puerto Rico. It was directed by award-winning British filmmaker Jess Colquhounand edited by the talented Maria-Celeste Garrahan from Puerto Rico.
“Using WhatsApp has opened many doors for me and has become a space where we can empower each other in the music industry and beyond. The app allowed many of us Latinas to work together and share our voices, music and ideas. It’s been a great way to connect, find resilience among us, and help drive Latino culture,” added the Mexican-American. Becky G.
To bring more visibility to the empowerment messages shared by Anitta, Becky G and TINI, WhatsApp created sticker packs with each of the artists. The stickers will be available directly in the app on March 8 – International Women’s Day. In this way, fans of the three artists will be able to share the images with their friends and enrich the conversations about female empowerment.
“I am very happy that WhatsApp thought of me for this campaign because, without a doubt, it is one of my favorite platforms, as it helps me to carry out many of my projects. It is one of the apps that most accompanies me in my daily life, at work, in my personal relationships with family and friends and in my professional relationships. That’s why I feel it’s a great tool in every way.” TINIfrom Argentina.
