Musician Caçulinha, known for his extensive career in Brazilian popular music and for his participation in television, passed away this Monday (5) at the age of 86. Admitted to the Santa Maggiore Hospital, in São Paulo, 10 days ago after suffering a heart attack, the musician leaves a significant legacy in the music industry and in advertising.
Caçulinha, whose real name was Rubens Antônio da Silva, also became famous for immortalizing the Fininvest jingle on the show “Domingão do Faustão”. The jingle, which promoted the financial institution that sponsored the show, was played religiously every Sunday by the musician. In an interview with “Domingo Espetacular” (Record) in 2020, Caçulinha told how he helped popularize the jingle. “I didn’t get rich. Zé Rodrix did. He wrote this jingle, but it was too long.” […] Then I took it and made it short. What mattered was the signature. [o nome da empresa]”, recalled the musician.
With perfect pitch and a career spanning over 60 years, Caçulinha played alongside the greatest Brazilian artists and recorded over 30 albums.
Caçulinha’s farewell will take place at the São Paulo Cemetery Chapel at 11 am, with the burial scheduled for 4 pm at the same location. The news of his departure was officially announced by his family, who highlighted his role as an inseparable brother and the “most beloved uncle”.
