Kevin Nascimento Bueno, known as MC Kevin, continues to be a significant influence on Brazilian funk. To celebrate his impact on music, Bem Bolado, a leading manufacturer of silks and tobacco products, has launched an exclusive kit that captures the essence of the artist.
The kit, named “Unforgettable” in reference to the MC’s catchphrase “Forget it!”, includes three exclusive papers, a grinder, a tubeck, a slick, a gourd, a glass mouthpiece, a sheet of temporary tattoos identical to Kevin’s, and stickers with the project’s visual identity. The lid of the can is laser engraved and numbered. Dona Val, the singer’s mother, actively participated in the creation and selection of the items. In a letter accompanying the launch, she expressed: “He [Kevin] managed to turn his wildest dreams into reality. The boy from Vila Ede went there and did it. He changed his life, mine and our family’s, making history in Brazilian funk.”
The kit will be released in a limited edition of 2,000 copies, sold exclusively on the brand’s e-commerce site. In addition, three new versions of the King Size Large Silk cover, on brown paper, will be available in headshops and tobacconists after the kit is launched.
The launch campaign was filmed during a lunch at Kevin’s mother’s house, highlighting the singer’s connection with his family. The video features close family members such as his sister Evilim Bueno and brother Felipe Nascimento, as well as friends MC Ig, MC PH and Thales.
As part of its cultural project, Bem Bolado pays tribute to MC Kevin to reaffirm funk as a transformative genre in Brazil. Kevin faced many difficulties in his childhood and adolescence, but found in music a form of expression and a possibility to change his life. During his career, he achieved impressive numbers that highlight his popularity and impact on the Brazilian music scene. “Music has always been a powerful form of dialogue, and funk, like cannabis culture, is often marginalized. As a Brazilian brand, Bem Bolado shares this activism, seeking to break stigmas and promote authentic connections,” explained Fabricio Penafiel, partner and marketing director at Bem Bolado.
Bem Bolado also maintains the Beat do Bom project, a platform that promotes collaborations with big names in music and new opportunities through music.
