In honor of the achievements of the greatest Brazilian gymnast in the Olympic Games, Rebeca Andrade, who won gold in the artistic gymnastics floor exercise, Prosa Press, an audiovisual production company specializing in the production of documentaries, films and corporate communication projects, is making the full documentary ‘INSPIRA: Singulares’ available on its YouTube channel – in a version accessible in sign language. The recently released work is a manifesto to diversity based on the journey of six personalities who use their bodies to overcome limits and express their identity, among the protagonists is the gymnast Rebeca Andrade.
The film is a reflection on diversity. However, it is not about overcoming vulnerabilities. The main subject is the power of being and accepting oneself as unique. Among the stories is the journey of gymnast Rebeca Andrade and five other inspiring personalities who do not fit into the labels imposed by society. Ney Matogrosso, Mona Rikumbi, Leo Castilho, Alma Negrot and Katu Mirim complete the cast.
Directed by journalist Patricia Travassos, the documentary is a deep dive into the human essence revealed through art, activism and representation. “Our starting point was the theme of diversity, but the film goes much further and shows how authenticity cultivated in intimate universes can overflow into the world, adding new perspectives, ways of being and feeling. We are proud of everything that Rebeca has achieved and it is an honor for us to tell her story. Without a doubt: she is unique”, says the director.
The documentary was made possible by Article 1-A of Law No. 8,685/93 and is sponsored by 3M. Layza Mesquini, Brand and Communications Leader at 3M Brazil, comments that, just like science, art has the power to unlock people’s power to reimagine what is possible. “For this reason, the company prioritizes supporting projects and documentaries such as Inspira: Singulares,” she concludes.
