At 84 years old, Octávio Frioli Florisbal, former executive director of Globo, died on Tuesday night (13), in São Paulo.

Graduated in communication and marketing from ESPM, the executive had a career spanning more than 30 years at Globo, in addition to having worked at agencies such as J. Walter Thompson, Norton Publicidade and Lintas Internacional.
Octávio was also one of the founders and the first president of the São Paulo Media Group, an entity focused on audience research.
In the advertising market, he was honored with the Personality of the Year award from the Brazilian Advertising Association in 2009.
At Globo, he began his career in 1982, when he was hired to structure the company’s marketing department and, in 1991, he was invited to become commercial superintendent.
In 2002, the executive temporarily assumed the position of general director of Rede Globo and, in 2004, became permanent in the position, which he held until December 2012.
After being succeeded by Carlos Henrique Schroder, Octávio joined the Board of Directors of Organizações Globo, of which he was a member until 2017.
