If your gaming PC has overheated and some part has burned out, Burger King has an unusual proposal for this year’s Gamer’s Day: offering a WHOPPER to video game fans who have experienced this type of problem.
Burger King’s action marks yet another foray by the company into the gaming universe, following several partnerships aimed at this audience. “We have a close relationship with e-Sports and we want to reward, in some way, those BK fans who are in the gaming universe. This was a fun way to bring more flavor, even after their equipment has gamed over,” says Igor Puga, CMO of ZAMP, the master franchisee of Burger King and Popeyes in Brazil. “The collaborations with Call of Duty, Free Fire and Loud are proof that BK has a great fit with this audience, and this time we are going to reward gamers’ loyalty to BK by offering them our famous WHOPPER.”
On August 29, customers who bring a burnt-out part of a gaming PC or video game console to a participating Burger King store will be able to request a WHOPPER. The part must be deposited in a designated collection box for disposal, and the sandwich will then be delivered.
In addition to engaging gamers, Burger King’s initiative is being carried out in partnership with the Brazilian Association for the Recycling of Electronic and Household Appliances (ABREE), which is responsible for the reverse logistics of these products, ensuring an environmentally appropriate final destination. On Gamer’s Day, 23 Burger King stores will receive ABREE collection boxes for small electronic waste, which will be collected by the association later. Participating stores can be found at this link.
“We are very happy to collaborate in this action, as it popularizes the culture of correct disposal of electronic products and contributes to mitigating a series of problems for the environment and public health. For this reason, at ABREE, we invest in environmental education, carry out traveling campaigns throughout Brazil and provide more than 3,400 collection points, spread across more than 1,300 municipalities, which can be located on our website”, highlights Helen Brito, Institutional Relations Manager at ABREE.
