Globo announced this Thursday (29) Joana Thimoteo as the new director of the Music Genre at Estúdios Globo. Starting October 1, Joana, until then director of Sports Broadcasts and Sports Cast Management, will replace Raoni Carneiro, who will continue contributing to Globo, in a new partnership model, as artistic director of musical events.
With a long career at Globo, where she joined in 2001, and also working in Portugal and China, Joana Thimoteo is one of the company’s most experienced content production executives. Over the past five years, as Director of Sports Broadcasting and Cast Management, Joana has been essential in the process of transforming Sports and has been responsible for major sports broadcasts and some editions of the World Cup and Olympics.
In Sports, the Sports Broadcasting department will be headed by George Guilherme. With the company since 1997, George was an intern, reporter in Pernambuco and Rio de Janeiro, presenter for Globo Esporte/PE, editor-in-chief in Recife, and, since 2019, he has been in charge of the Football Broadcasting department. The Sports Executive Planning and Squad Management and Event Management departments, which were previously part of the Sports Broadcasting and Squad Management department, will be united under the leadership of Marcela Zaiden. George Guilherme and Marcela Zaiden will be alongside Gustavo Maria, who is responsible for the Editorial Department, and Gustavo Poli, who leads Programs and Digital Content, making up Renato Ribeiro’s Sports department.
“At Estúdios, Joana’s priority will be to perfect and execute our strategy for the music segment. Music is part of everything we create and produce at Estúdios Globo, and it is also a powerful tool for connecting Globo with Brazil. That is why we have dedicated ourselves so much to the music segment, both in creating new formats and in consolidating the annual calendar that brings together all events and productions, “Music from January to January,” highlighted Amauri Soares, executive director of Estúdios Globo and TV Globo, in an internal statement.
As director of Musicals, Joana will join the genre directors of Dramaturgy, José Villamarim; of Variety, Mariano Boni; of Reality, Boninho; of Comedy, Patrícia Pedrosa; of Auditorium, Monica Almeida; in addition to the director of Content Production, Fabiana Moreno, the director of Innovation and Diversity, Kellen Julio, and the director of Artistic Talents, Bernardo Portugal.
