Campaign includes film, developed by Africa Creative, publication of a manifesto, among other actions
The Pact Against Hunger has launched a broad national campaign to reduce food waste. The campaign kicks off the month in which International Food Loss and Waste Awareness Day is celebrated on September 29, and seeks to raise awareness in society about the consequences of food waste for food security and the environment. The campaign includes the publication of a manifesto, an advertising film, and the dissemination of the guide “Food belongs on the plate”, among other activities on the topic.
The film, developed in partnership with Africa Creative and produced by Magma, features a song written by Jair Oliveira, from S de Samba, specially created to accompany the campaign. “If the mouth that eats the most is the mouth of the trash and there are still millions of Brazilians who are hungry, it is urgent to mobilize society around a change in behavior in relation to food and the improper disposal of food. As our song says: good food is in the mouth, in the mouth that eats and not in the mouth of the trash.”, says Raphael Vandystadt, VP of international relations, ESG and sustainability at the Africa Creative agency.
The Pact Against Hunger will also publish a manifesto entitled “One Year Less”, which highlights the magnitude of the food insecurity and food waste figures in Brazil and the need for collective action to combat these problems by 2030, the deadline established by the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The campaign also includes a series of offline and online activations, actions on the streets, in shopping centers and malls, out of home media, among other planned actions.
The actions are supported by entities from various sectors, such as the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), WWF Brazil, the NGO Banco de Alimentos, the Instituto da Criança, SESC Mesa Brasil, the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (CNBB) and the Multiplan shopping mall chain.
