Executive with over 20 years of experience in the NBA, came to Brazil to talk about the sports marketing that his team carries out in Florida (USA)
At the invitation of the National Basketball League (LNB), Michael Forde, chief sales officer (CSO) of the Orlando Magic, gave a lecture on the 4th at the Paulistano auditorium in São Paulo.
The executive, with over 20 years of experience in the NBA, came to Brazil to talk about the sports marketing that his team carries out in Florida, and what the challenges are like in a competitive market like the North American one.
Michael brought valuable lessons on how to improve the basketball product to make it more profitable for the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB) CAIXA clubs and more enjoyable for the fan consumer, from the moment they buy their ticket until they return home. The idea was to show a new concept of relationship with consumers so that they will want to return to the gyms more often.
Rodrigo Franco Montoro, president of the LNB, praised Michael Forde’s presentation: ‘It is a very enriching experience to exchange ideas with the representative of such an important NBA team, the world’s largest basketball league. It is only natural that we should have the opportunity to learn from these experiences. We are privileged to welcome Michael for the second time, to show us a presentation rich in details and willing to exchange information and try to meet our needs within our reality. It is very interesting. There are many things that are different from our financial reality, but many of the concepts can be replicated.’
Michael Forde added, highlighting the role of Brazilian fans in popularizing basketball: “Brazil is an important market for us, we have a lot of Brazilians who visit Orlando and experience the NBA at a Magic game. The NBA is growing in importance and its fans are growing in the Brazilian market.”
The lecture was moderated by Álvaro Cotta, marketing director of the National Basketball League (LNB). ‘It’s a huge learning experience, especially from the NBA’s historical experience. We’ve been discussing it, we want to take advantage and position all our events and products in a way that offers an experience for basketball fans’, concluded the director.
The event was attended by the governing body of the National Basketball League (LNB), advertisers and commercial partners of the entity, the board of directors of Club Athletico Paulistano and directors of several clubs that compete in the NBB CAIXA.
