Amazon has ended its remote work model for its employees, and they will now have to return to the big tech company’s offices. The new policy will come into effect on January 2, 2025.
According to the statement signed by Andy Jassy, CEO of Amazon, and released this Monday (16), the decision was made to help employees “invent, collaborate and be connected enough with each other” and with the company culture, aiming to offer “the best for customers and for the business”.
“We have decided that we will return to being in the office in the same way we were before the onset of Covid. When we look back on the last five years, we continue to believe that the advantages of being together in the office are significant,” said the CEO.
The company also explained that employees will still be able to work from home in exceptional circumstances, such as a sick child or a household emergency, as was the case before the pandemic.
