The company has already counted more than six thousand suspicious links sent since the beginning of the year
Serasa announced the removal of 18,500 fake pages from the internet between January and August 2024. The company has developed a special channel to receive reports and a tool to take down fake pages. According to the company, misleading promises to increase a user’s score or miraculous offers to “clear a name” are the most common tactics used by scammers on the internet. The company, which also receives reports via WhatsApp, has already counted more than six thousand suspicious links sent since the beginning of the year, which have undergone a second stage of analysis for removal.
“Criminals lie that they are Serasa representatives or claim to have a ‘hot contact’ within the company,” says Patrícia Camillo, fraud prevention manager at Serasa.
According to the company, in 2024 there will be an increase in the volume of videos manipulated with artificial intelligence that forge the image and voice of celebrities, well-known politicians or renowned journalists. In this type of scam, fraudsters offer fictitious deals and aggressive discounts to attract more vulnerable users.
