QuintoAndar co-founder and former CTO André Penha is the new CEO of wireless electricity company IBBX.
The entrepreneur had already invested in the company since the seed round in 2019 and accepted an invitation from Luis Fernando Destro, founder of IBBX, to take over the command of the deep tech company. Destro assumes the position of CTO of the company, which should increase its investment in Research and Development.
With its first product, the “Retina” monitoring suite, IBBX has managed to significantly reduce the operating costs of industrial parks. The fact that the suite uses wireless electricity makes installation quick and easy. “We are better than plug and play – it’s practically just play,” jokes André Penha, pointing out the main reason for the success of IBBX Wireless Energy’s product. The company has a backlog of over R$200 million (in future revenue) for implementing the monitoring product.
Now with Penha, IBBX is outlining a platform strategy. So far, IBBX has been successful in applying its technology to industrial monitoring systems, especially in predictive maintenance of industrial parks. The company also intends to offer the method of “connecting electronic circuits without a plug or battery” to hardware manufacturers who want the functionality. “Everyone will want their cell phone to work without needing to plug it into a charger, or for their security camera to be able to be installed anywhere, even far from a plug socket,” says the new CEO.
“For me, IBBX can radically change how the world works,” says Penha. “Reducing batteries and eliminating wires, in addition to solving a pain point for many people, is an ecological mission. Batteries contain heavy metals – the fewer of them, the better the world will be,” he adds.
