In fashion, expansion aims to support the digitalization of local sellers in key areas in the country
Mercado Livre has made progress in strategic segments with initiatives targeting the fashion and supermarket categories. Following the pilot initiative of the Polos Project, initially launched in Brás in June 2023, MeLi will expand to new strategic regions, including Franca (SP), Nova Friburgo (RJ), Vale do Itajaí (SC) and Goiânia (GO).
Focused on hunting for retailers in the country’s main fashion hubs, the project aims to support the digitalization of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the fashion sector, promoting economic growth and democratizing access to e-commerce.
The initiative, according to Mercado Livre, not only expands the range of fast fashion items within the platform, but also connects consumers to a vast selection of national products, which can be found on an exclusive landing page within the fashion category, called Fashion Box.
Supermarkets
Mercado Livre also strengthened its presence in the Supermarket sector, with an 11% increase in searches in the first half of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, surpassing the market average.
This data made the company understand the transformation in consumption habits and highlights the platform’s ability to efficiently and innovatively meet new market demands.
“With logistical coverage of 95% of Brazil and 80% of deliveries made within 48 hours, our focus on regional expansion and partnerships with major players strengthen our product offering,” said Anna Araripe, Marketplace Director at Mercado Livre.
