A statement was released by the CEO of the out-of-home media company last Friday (27)
Mude Wellness Media announced that it will ban any advertisement or betting campaign, better known as bets, on its platforms. The decision was published by Marcus Moraes Correia, CEO of Mude, on LinkedIn, last Friday (27). “This decision, the result of in-depth reflection and internal discussions, became definitive and official after the rejection of a campaign proposal we received this week. Betting has been consolidating itself as one of the biggest social problems in Brazil, with economic and psychological impacts devastating”, said the executive in the publication.
A survey carried out by the Central Bank was recently released showing that Brazilians spent around R$20 billion per month on online betting, between January and August 2024.
Still according to Marcus, “building a brand and a legacy lies as much in the actions we take as in the causes we choose to support or reject. We could not, in coherence with our commitment to promoting well-being, remain neutral in the face of current scenario of exploitation of betting games. We can all do our part to reverse this situation. Encouraging betting and gambling is not part of our vision of a healthy and balanced future for society”, explained the CEO.
Google also announced that it will ban advertisements for bets that are not registered with the Ministry of Finance from this Monday (30).
