Audible and Amazon launched the first nationally produced “Audible Original” in celebration of the service’s first year in Brazil. The content covers different genres, such as entertainment, history, education and journalistic investigation. The productions are now available in the catalog for Audible subscribers and in the e-book version in the Kindle store.
Several Brazilian creators and producers wrote the stories, such as Bianca Comparato, João Jardim, Manuela Cantuária, Thiago André, Paula Scarpin and Renata Tupinambá, among others. In addition, personalities lent their voices for the interpretation and narration, including Alice Braga, Cláudia Abreu, Eduardo Moscovis, Daiara Tukano, Debora Lamm, Jorge Lucas, Lázaro Ramos, Paola Carosella, Patrícia Hargreaves and Rafa Brites.
Among the audio content are “Por que Mudei?”, by Lázaro Ramos, and “Clube das Impostoras”, by Rafa Brites, which bring testimonials focused on personal development. The catalog also includes investigative audio series with historical context, such as “Yawara – a hidden history of Brazil”, with Alice Braga and Daiara Tukano, “From Heaven to Hell – The Herberts Cukurs Case”, with Patrícia Hargreaves, and “Apartheid Tropical”, with Thiago André from História Preta. There is also fiction with “Nobody with This Name”, starring Cláudia Abreu, Eduardo Moscovis, Débora Lamm and Solange Couto. In addition to being autobiographical with Paola Carosella in “Nem Só de Pão” and “Método Exposto”, with Jorge Lucas, who brings an acid humor. More than 110 hours of educational content were also produced with Casa do Saber teachers.
“These are native stories, never before told in this format and which highlight the richness of the country’s cultural diversity, in addition to bringing to light themes relevant to society, such as politics, Nazism, gender, historical recovery, preservation of original peoples and much more This portfolio expansion represents the natural evolution of our service, in line with the objective of offering more and more high-quality audio content to a growing audience. Throughout this first year of operation in the country, we have also expanded our audiobook catalogue. more than 700 thousand titles, six thousand of which are in Portuguese”, says Adriana Alcântara, general director of Audible in Brazil.
Additionally, Audible announced the “Pitching Project,” which offers the opportunity for writers, screenwriters and other creative professionals to work with Audible to create and produce an Audible Original.
