The new series from the world of Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, has won its first teaser trailer. In the promotional video, fans can get their first glimpses of the production that features Ewan McGregor returning to the role of the classic Jedi master after nearly 20 years. The last time the actor played the character in live action was in 2005, in the movie Revenge of the Sith.
Check out the first teaser trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi:
In the video we can see, in addition to Obi-Wan Kenobi himself, some scenes that show the young Luke Skywalker and his family, the desert planet Tatooine and one of the things that fans most expect to see since on the scene: an Inquisitor. The Inquisitors are a special force of the Empire that hunts down the Jedi remaining after Order 66.
Apparently, the series will address the Jedi Master’s journey after the fall of the Republic, being hunted by the Empire and trying to protect Luke until his adulthood. As such, the production will take place in the time period between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. Still, it’s unknown to what extent we’ll see this story tackled.
It is worth remembering that in addition to the return of Ewan McGregor in the role, another actor will also return to the Star Wars universe. Hayden Christensen, who played Anakin Skywalker in the trilogy made by George Lucas at the beginning of the century, will return to play the character, this time as Darth Vader. The classic villain can also be seen at the end of the trailer.
Obi-Wan Kenobi will arrive on Disney+ on May 25th. This is not the first production of the streaming service for Star Wars. Later this year, bounty hunter Boba Fett also won his own series, in addition to the highly acclaimed “The Mandalorian”, which tells the story of another bounty hunter on a mission across the galaxy.
