O UOLannounced this week a content partnership with the website O Antagonista and the magazine Crusoé. As Brazil begins to closely monitor the pre-candidacies for the presidency of the Republic and the beginning of the electoral race, the sites begin to increase the offer of political content available to the UOL public.
The website O Antagonista and the magazine Crusoé were created by journalists Diogo Mainardi and Mario Sabino. O Antagonista quickly became one of the most read and influential political websites in the country, with newsrooms in São Paulo and Brasília.
Founded seven years ago, O Antagonista became famous for its defense of the Lava Jato operation, which it covered intensively. Among his scoops, one of the most recent was the purchase of a mansion in Brasília by Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, the eldest son of President Jair Bolsonaro. The site also had national repercussions when it shed light on night-time ballot bombs in the National Congress.
After the success of O Antagonista, Mainardi and Sabino launched Crusoé in 2018. With an audience made up of subscribers, Crusoé brings exclusive reports on the backstage of power on Fridays, as well as interviews with relevant characters in national political life. The Judiciary is one of the major issues of the magazine. Crusoé also has strong columnists, such as former attorney Carlos Fernando dos Santos Lima, cultural commentator Ruy Goiaba, writer Alexandre Soares Silva, in addition to Mainardi and Sabino.
“The plurality of content is one of our foundations. Therefore, having the Antagonista and Crusoé websites within what we offer to our audience is a natural move for us”, says Paulo Samia, CEO of UOL CS (Conteúdo e Serviços).
With the agreement, selected contents of the sites will have links in several pages and stations of UOL. Access through these links will allow UOL visitors to read these texts even if they are in areas restricted to Antagonista and Crusoé subscribers.
“UOL is recognized for having a diverse and respected base of columnists and columnists. Names such as Mainardi and Sabino make our offer of opinion even richer”, says Murilo Garavello, Content director at UOL.
In addition to the editorial agreement, the companies are now working on the development of special advertising projects, which will be taken jointly to the advertising market in the coming weeks. There will also be an exchange of technology and tools with the aim of leveraging both the audience of the sites and the technical performance of the platforms.
