UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), together with the IDB (Inter-American Development Bank) and the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development), released a report on the effects of intelligence Artificial in women’s professional life.
In the document, Bradesco appears as a reference in the responsible use of Bia, its Artificial Intelligence, in the fight against gender harassment, encouraging women to unite to do the same.
Like other chatbots that have been impersonated as female, Bia has been the target of harassment and, in 2020, she received more than 90,000 messages of insults and sexual harassment. As such, in 2021 the bank announced support for UNESCO’s “Hey Update My Voice” initiative by updating the virtual assistant’s responses to help redefine views on gender.
In conjunction with the United Nations, the bank launched a campaign to combat situations of violence and gender prejudice, with the objective of raising public awareness and collaborating to build a more egalitarian society, with respect and improvement of conditions. of women’s lives and work.
The film, broadcast on national television, recorded more than 194 million views in the digital environment, becoming the most watched YouTube commercial in the country in 2021.
“Campaigns like this constitute an important step towards promoting human rights and the Sustainable Development Goals in the context of AI”, commented Marlova Jovchelovitch Noleto, Director and Representative of UNESCO in Brazil.
According to the executive director of Bradesco, Glaucimar Peticov, the initiative reflects an internal change that the bank has been adopting in several areas. “We increase the voices of women in the discussion of an urgent topic that needs to be fought: harassment and gender violence, whether on or offline”, said the executive.
The update of responses from the virtual assistant, BIA, was also extended to human intelligence – Bradesco’s attendants received updated response guidelines to prevent harassment.
The action influenced the work of the bank’s HR, Marketing and Technology teams, in line with broader corporate movements, such as #AliadosPeloRespeito and the Human Resources fronts with Universidade Corporativa Bradesco (Unibrad), which provoke reflections on gender, ethnicities , people with disabilities and LGBTI+.
