To boost donations and allow Doutores da Alegria – a pioneering project that brings the art of clowning to public hospitals – to resume its activities, the “Doar Spalha Alegria” campaign was launched.
The communication, signed by FCB Health Brasil, has a strong appeal on social media and aims to obtain resources to enable the continuity of the activities of the artists, who for 33 years have brought joy and hope to more than 2.5 million children hospitalized in public hospitals in the country. Rio de Janeiro, Recife and São Paulo.
For the first time in a critical situation – all hospitals in Rio de Janeiro, Recife and 80% of hospitals in São Paulo stopped receiving visits from pairs for two weeks – the project needs to raise financial resources quickly to continue the work. Currently, 50 professional clowns contribute to the humanization of 15 public hospitals. The campaign aims to engage both the general public and the business sector, highlighting the transformative impact that art provides to hospitalized patients.
“Our work has always been to bring lightness and joy to those who need it most, but this moment requires us to also take care of our own survival”, says Luis Vieira da Rocha, CEO of Doutores da Alegria, regretting that the lack of resources has interrupted the artists’ visits to hospitals. “We achieved a great partnership with FCB Health Brasil, which is developing a campaign to mobilize and raise awareness among the population of the need to maintain clown activity in hospitals,” says Rocha. He highlights: “With this, we are asking society to support us in this difficult and challenging time for the organization, with donations and partnerships, so that we can resume work soon. But we are confident that, with everyone’s help, we will be able to overcome this crisis”, he adds.
Recognized nationally and internationally for the impact of its actions, the project inspired several other similar programs across the country and expanded with shows, urban interventions and cultural activities, such as the itinerant artistic programming of the Plateias Hospitalares project, in hospitals in Rio de Janeiro. With the implementation of a new institutional task in 2016, Doutores da Alegria has focused on reinforcing culture as a right for all.
“FCB Health Brasil embraced the cause of Doutores da Alegria, and our team donated to spread this joy that saves lives”, says Murillo Pedrosa, Managing Director of the agency. He invites companies and all those who can donate, whether through financial resources, volunteering, or through publicity on social media, to collect donations. “Every small action makes a difference.”
