This Tuesday (3), during the programming of the first day of Unlock CCXP, data from the 12th edition of Geek Power were announced. The panel led by Otávio Juliato, CCO of Omelete Company, Carlos Silva and Mauro Berimbau, both from Go Gamers, brought several insights into the consumption of the gamer, geek and otaku market in Brazil.
Held between October 31st and November 13th this year, with 7,281 participants from all over Brazil, this is considered the largest and most complete Geek Power held to date. In people’s profiles, 57% of geeks are women, 55% are between 22 and 39 years old, 72.4% are from classes B and C, 67.6% of the public are in the southeast and northeast regions, and 40.6% They are black and brown. Overall, 57.4% of respondents are proud to be geeks, with millennials and Gen Z being the most included in this group.
Another highlight was the portrait of generations within this market. In the last edition of the survey, it was revealed that everyone is at least a little geek. In this edition, the habits and involvement with entertainment of generational groups and their evolution were examined. Geek Power showed that the younger you are, the greater your preference for games, anime and manga. 38.9% of generation Z consider themselves gamers, 32.7% of millennials consider themselves nerds, 30.9% of generation X consider themselves movie buffs and 26.1% of baby boomers consider themselves serious. The more adult profiles are connected with more traditional media and declare themselves cinephiles, serial fans and booklovers. The younger profiles stand out as geeks and nerds, in addition to coming closer to the gamer and otaku identity.
Generation Z will be the largest, with more access to resources and with the greatest consumerist impulse in history. Your global purchasing power must reach $12 trillion by 2023, surpassing the consumption of Millennials and Baby Boomers. Among the trends for 2025 are anime and East Asian culture; games and eSports; cell phone as favorite medium; and live experiences.
When it comes to films, 23.7% of the public chose Deadpool & Wolverine as the best of the year, second by Dune: Part 2 com 12,9%, The Substance com 7,9%, Amusingly 2 with 7.9% and The Wild Robot with 2.8%. The most anticipated film for 2025 is Vingadores: Doomsday with 9.4%. When it comes to series, the favorites of the year were Penguin com 12,3%, Agatha Ever After com 10%, The House of the Dragon with 8.1%, _The Rings of Power _with 5.9% and Fallout with 3.9%. The most anticipated for 2025 is Stranger Thingscom 12%.
