March is Women’s Month. It is very common to see advertisements and campaigns that use female strength as an agenda, but they are almost never present until the end of the month. That’s why we bring inspiring womenwhich was born with the aim of highlighting these women even when the rest of the publicity seems to have forgotten about them.
In today’s conversation, we bring Giordania Tavares, CEO of Rayflex. The company is a leader in the high speed door and dock shelter business. Giordani is a female highlight in an environment very marked by the presence of men: the industry. She grew up on the family’s factory floor and is now a leader in the field. Even so, we seek to understand if she really feels familiar with the market.
DNEWS: Have you ever been reduced to or compared to some female stereotype in advertising or throughout your career?
GIORDANIA TAVARES: “I personally have not encountered this problem or that I have noticed it, but I know several women who have.”
AD: In your opinion, what are the biggest mistakes in advertising when trying to represent strong women?
GIORDANIA: “We cannot keep comparing with men, we have our differences that we must always talk about and men theirs, which are not always the same, but they all have their importance.”
AD: Do you think strong women in media and advertising have a lot of their strength related to physical beauty?
GIORDANIA: “It depends a lot on the focus of advertising, regardless, I don’t think this kind of appeal for an advertisement is cool, when it comes to women in the industries I see little of this type of targeting.”
AD: Would you like to see women more realistically represented in advertising?
GIORDANIA: “Certainly, physical beauty does not demonstrate a person’s intellect, skills and character.”
AD: What would you say to the creators of unrealistic advertisements about women if you could?
GIORDANIA: “When a woman sees an unrealistic advertisement, which does not match her reality, this media itself loses its suitability for society.”
AD: What comes to your mind when we say “strong woman”?
GIORDANIA: “It’s that determined person, but who doesn’t lose his essence.”
AD: Has any woman inspired you to be the professional you are today? Who?
GIORDANIA: Several, mainly women I lived with in my childhood, my grandparents. They were women leaders in the communities who lived, determined, independent, with strong personalities and who did not leave aside the tenderness of women.
Is that you? What is your example of feminine strength? Until the next inspiring women!
