Meet the guests:
Ian Black
Ian Black is CEO, Founder and Partner of New Vegas. Over the past 15 years he has played a key role in the advertising market, employing a transdisciplinary approach to all his initiatives, remaining media agnostic but focusing on cultural relevance, social responsibility and economic sustainability.
Born and raised in a context of scarcity, common to most black families in the country, coming from public education and without academic training, Ian uses his own personal and previous professional experiences, independent studies and political-social activism to build a perspective that allows for extraordinary observations and actions that often contradict the chorus of the markets.
This style of work, combined with an inexperience in management or working in large agencies, made New Vegas, an agency he founded without resources or specialized staff in 2011, to be and remains his most ambitious project. Through him, Ian has been able to present a business model that is not based on the Brazilian advertising tradition, as well as people management (hiring without diplomas, most women in creation and leadership, not working overtime and on weekends , all these things have been practiced by the agency naturally since its founding).
With this model, Ian’s objective is that it is possible to build enterprises that are guided by excellence, transparency, authenticity and acceptance and that this has practical manifestations and not just discursive ones. Ian believes that real innovation is only possible through the perspectives of people who, like him, have always lived on the margins of a small privileged portion, but who at the same time have always had a connection with Brazil and the world as it is.
