Twelve cooks put to the test far from their kitchens and on a paradise beach. This is how “Cook Island – Ilha do Sabor” opens on the 31st at 9:45 pm on GNT. Presented by Jéssica Ellen and Joaquim Lopes, the gastronomic competition will be judged by chefs Manuelle Ferraz and Kaywa Hilton. Participants, who already have professional experience in kitchens, will be placed in challenges under a lot of pressure and facing the difficulties of daily living, in a contest that will award the winner with R$ 100 thousand.
According to Joaquim Lopes:
“This program is a great professional and personal accomplishment for me. I managed to unite two passions: gastronomy and present a program. Communicating is something that runs through my veins, and being able to do that on a subject that I master is something unique. All the participants, including myself, Jessica, Kaywa and Manuelle, went through a transformative journey, without a doubt.”
Jessica Ellen also commented on the news:
“It was very nice to follow closely and see how a reality show is made. The things that emerge, the clashes, the stories of overcoming, the creativity of each dish. I think the audience can expect dynamism. With each test, with each episode, we were surprised and I’m sure the audience will be surprised too”.
Each episode has three tastings, the first is in a group, with rustic utensils and techniques in an outdoor kitchen. Participants, who have varied specializations such as charcuterie, Scandinavian cuisine, gluten-free food and confectionery, will have to combine their skills in the collective challenges. They must work as a team, creating dishes within the theme of the episode.
The losing group will face an individual test. They need to show their creativity, experience and talent by preparing haute cuisine dishes, with mandatory ingredients. The two worst performances will go to a final duel, and will compete to stay in the competition in a race with quick preparations, where precision and waist game will make the difference.
Suely Weller, Content Manager at GNT, spoke about Cook Island:
“The program will take chefs out of their comfort zones in challenging competitions, in which they have to show their skills in the kitchen and in relationships with other participants. All this under the command of Jessica and Joaquim, who showed great harmony in their debut as presenters of the channel”.
With 10 weekly episodes, “Cook Island – Ilha do Sabor” will explore different types of cuisine, with themes such as “Amazon”, “Vegetable World”, “Sertão” and “Neighboring Countries”. The show is directed by David Feldon and produced by Box Fish. The attraction will be available on Globoplay from March 31.
