The movement also promoted a flashmob on Avenida Paulista to protest what it considers “one of the biggest lies of the year”.
The Volta Pinheiros movement used April 1st, April Fools’ Day, to promote yet another action and demand the promise of cleaning up the Pinheiros River in São Paulo. This time, the group launched an animation with the jingle “I can’t stand this smell of poop anymore”, developed by the producer We Jam.
The movement, headed by Marcelo Reis, co-CEO and CCO of Leo Burnett Tailor Made and ARC Brasil, also promoted a flashmob on Avenida Paulista to protest against what it considers “one of the biggest lies of the year”, which is to have the Pinheiros River unpolluted until December. In the action, five people dressed with the poop emoji were dancing to the music.
The promise was made by the then Governor João Doria, who left his post this Thursday (31). The government of São Paulo still maintains the discourse that the Pinheiros River will be completely unpolluted by the end of this year.
Recently, the movement announced a partnership with the IPH (Hydro Pollutant Index), from the University of São Caetano do Sul (USCS), to measure and monitor the conditions of the river’s waters.
