La’eeb was featured during the Qatar World Cup group draw
FIFA presented this Friday (1st) La’eeb, the mascot of the Qatar World Cup. Inspired by the traditional scarves used in Arab culture, he was presented with a video that mentioned the metaverse – in this case, the ‘verse mascot’, as it was called.
On social media, FIFA wrote that La’eeb ‘full of energy and will bring the joy of football to everyone. La’eeb believes ‘Now is Everything’ and encourages everyone to believe in themselves,” he posted.
The film begins with RedOne, FIFA’s creative entertainment executive, performing until the mascot comes to life and invites him to discover his world. That’s when the two go to a kind of ‘parallel universe’, with all the mascots of the other World Cups. Including the Brazilian Fuleco.
Around here, after the video, what yielded the most were the memes. Some played with the ‘Fuleco drama’ after the 2014 World Cup in Brazil; others compared the Qatari mascot to a napkin and stingrays.
