Several films with isolated actors were made during the pandemic. Malcom and Marie, with Zendaya (available on Netflix) was one of them. And now today (5) the Brazilian film Winter premieres at 10 pm on Telecine Touch. In fact, it’s more of a medium-length film, with one hour and nine minutes. But even though it’s so short, it’s hard for time to pass, see?
A couple in quarantine has clear relationship problems. But they end up hosting a friend at home. Only the could be something to help, to be a relief it turns into a strange situation. Especially when the name of one of them appears on a list of those killed by Covid-19.
The film has a good production, with a beautiful house. Detail: it is the home of the two main actors of the film. Thaila Ayalla and Renato Goes are married in real life. And both are fine as actors. The script and direction are by Paulo Fontenelle, with Thaila’s collaboration on the script. The problem starts there. The idea of making a suspenseful story with a couple whose lives are turned upside down with the arrival of a third party is a good one. It’s made a lot of movies. But the script is confusing, and when you get to the end, you’re left wondering…’What do you mean?’
In addition, Thaila’s character hears a baby crying all the time. And that is getting unbearable. Actress Barbara Dias, who plays the friend, doesn’t help either. Poor thing, she can’t seem natural at any time. it even has a few interesting suspenseful moments, but it doesn’t convince. And a lot of people won’t understand the story in the end. In other words, it doesn’t work!
