Sou+Favela announced in partnership with G10 favelas the creation of a special branch for television, called +FavelaTV. The studio will be located in the community of Paraisópolis. The service, which was officially announced yesterday, April 17, will be in an on demand format, in which the public can choose what they want to watch whenever they want.

The program must include content ranging from sports to early childhood education and well-being, in addition to many other topics.
A+FavelaTV will be the first service available in an interactive format within the country’s favelas, in addition to being the first independent channel from the locals. The project came about as a result of a partnership between the organizing company and a group of entrepreneurs who seek to increase social impact and operates in more than 300 communities throughout Brazil.
Marx Rodrigues, CEO of Sou+Favela, commented on how the project can affect communities:
“Even with a solid relationship, in addition to being primary, conventional television never delivered messages that generated an impact on the public in the favela. We will strengthen identification and relevance to the audience”
Gilson Rodrigues, president of the G10 Favelas, also commented on the initiative:
“The freedom to choose what, how and when to watch is something new here in the favela. We were used to consuming what was available on the grid, now it changes everything”
The project of the independent network of favelas also has three directors with experience in the communication sector in Brazil and in the world: Mauricio Alvarenga, Milton Neto and Edmundo Gavioli.
