In the composition of the sandwich, launched earlier this month, it did not contain the cut of the meat, but a ‘natural flavor of picanha’.
Procon of São Paulo reported that it notified Arcos Dorados, owner of McDonald’s, to ask for more information about McPicanha, the fast food chain’s new line of snacks.
The case began to call for the fact that, in the composition of the sandwich, the type of meat was not included, but a sauce with a ‘natural flavor of picanha’.
According to the institution, the company must present the nutritional table of the sandwiches, attesting to the composition of each of the ingredients (meat, sauces, additives, among others), in addition to documents that prove the quality tests carried out that demonstrate the process of handling, packaging and time indicated for consumption.
Procon-SP also requested that McDonald’s present the templates for the packaging used to package the products in physical stores for immediate consumption and for delivery, and copy the advertising materials and media for the 2022 line.
Clarifications must be provided by May 2.
In addition to Procon-SP, Conar (National Advertising Self-Regulation Council) confirmed that it opened a process to investigate the fact. According to the advice of the council, the process started with a complaint from a consumer.
PROPMARK contacted McDonald’s, but did not receive a response as of this article’s publication.
