Fabio Porchat is one of the great names in humor in Brazil and has become one of the darlings of brands when choosing a face for advertising campaigns.
With over 6 million followers on Instagram, the voice actor, director, producer, television presenter and comedian has already starred in campaigns for Sky, Vanish, Disney, Zap Imóveis and Chevrolet, in addition to participating in advertising campaigns that are carried out at Porta dos Fundos, where he is a founding partner, screenwriter and actor.
“I like to attack on all fronts, doing theatre, filming, campaigning, doing series etc. So, in the end, I try to be filling all my seats,” Porchat told in an exclusive interview with PROPMARK.
When and what was the first advertising campaign you did?
The first campaign I did in my life, I wasn’t even an actor, I was still a teenager living in São Paulo, was an advertisement for Fanta Citrus. It was her launch in Brazil, I took the test and was chosen by the brand’s Elephant. I did the advertisement, but I never had access to it, I never saw it again. I should have done very badly, but poor me, but it was my first advertisement and I remember exactly what the tests were like, what it was like to receive the answer, come back, be in anticipation.
What do you consider when starting a partnership with a brand/company?
Just as the brand searches and looks for someone who looks like it, I always try to understand if the brand has to do with me, what it can offer me too. Because it’s not just a commercial transaction, it’s not just “give me some money and I’ll name your product”, I want to understand what it is, how it works, how I add the brand and how it adds me . There’s a whole understanding of who I’m talking to and what.
Do you participate in creating the campaign? Script, production etc.
Varies a lot. It depends from campaign to campaign. From Sky, we always participate, suggest things, ideas, etc. I have a creative side here, which writes and proposes things for stories, for example, for things I record at home, etc. So I have a team on my side that works with the company’s team precisely to try this, but many campaigns arrive ready and then I adapt to them, I suggest things, I love to suggest, I love to get involved.
Currently, his face is stamped in several places. How do you allocate your time to be able to record campaigns?
I like attacking on all fronts, doing theatre, filming, campaigning, doing series, etc. So in the end, I try to be filling all my seats. The campaign is another work that promotes my brand, my face and that I leverage my work with the company that is coming. In the end, it’s really a job that takes some time, because it’s not just going there to record and leaving, right? With the internet and all these networks active all the time, we have to be on this for the rest of the year.
Do you have a brand you would like to campaign? If yes, which one?
I have never campaigned for a bank and this is something that interests me. It’s the kind of product that I would find amazing to be able to make and be able to participate in.
Of all the advertising work you’ve done, which ones did you like the most?
The advertising work I most enjoyed doing was being able to throw hearts of palm in people’s faces. Nothing beats throwing hearts of palm in someone’s face.
