In this first phase, the bikes will be destined for the most active couriers on the Platform and with high ratings.
Rappi Brasil launched, in partnership with Woie Rental, electric bicycles for the use of the app’s independent delivery men, called “E-bikes”.
The initiative aims to adopt more sustainable measures, promoting the reduction of carbon emissions, in addition to increasing the profitability of couriers, avoiding fuel costs and motorcycle maintenance.
In this first phase, the bikes will be destined for the most active independent couriers on the Platform and with high ratings by Consumers, but according to Osmar Queiroz, Rappi Brasil’s Director of Operations, the intention is for this project to expand through the app’s verticals and gain space. Throughout the national territory.
“In São Paulo, E-bikes can travel longer distances, in addition to being more sustainable. We expect expansion this year to other cities in the country where we operate, such as Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Curitiba, Porto Alegre, Fortaleza, Recife and Campinas, also going to other cities in a third moment”, explained the executive.
Rappi started the project with 40 e-bikes in circulation in the city of São Paulo and aims to reach the 2,000 mark across the country by the end of the year. E-bikes can be rented by independent couriers through a discounted subscription, worth R$99.00 per month.
Rappi will subsidize the remaining amount with the rental company through the partnership between the companies. Customized with the visual identity of the app, the bikes will be available, at this moment, in lighter models, with the capacity to reach up to 25 km/h.
