Audio description project “Listen to Your Path” proposes to translate the scenarios for blind and low vision people
The National Library, the Municipal Theater and the Museum of Tomorrow and the natural landscapes that make Rio de Janeiro one of the most beautiful cities in the world gain new perspectives for people who are blind and have low vision. At least, this is the idea of Grupo CCR and VLT Carioca with “Escute Seu Caminho”, an audio description project that aims to translate the scenarios for residents and tourists who visit the city.
The initiative, available on streaming platforms such as Spotify, Deezer and Amazon Music, was introduced on line 1 of the VLT. For the elaboration of the project, created by the Talent Marcel agency, the tourist spots and stretches with the most attractions of the route were selected.
Subsequently, the main monuments were described in detail, such as the architectural style, the number of windows, the height, among other points; and then sound effects came in, creating an immersive experience. The project was guided by Marcos Lima, creator of “Histórias de Cego”, the largest Brazilian channel for the blind and people with low vision.
“Listening to the detailed description of natural beauties, historic buildings and tourist attractions, which are located around our stops and stations, means reducing differences that limit the full exercise of citizenship. It is very gratifying to operate a system that allows this experience to our users”, Paulo Ferreira, CEO of VLT Carioca.
The action is accompanied by a dissemination plan that includes spots on radio and on streaming platforms, advertisements on internal televisions on trains and on urban furniture at stations.
