six months ago, the HBO Max arrived in Brazil to offer quality content to Brazilians. Since its arrival, HBO Max has been looking for a way to get to know the Brazilian audience more and more, in order to make available the content that makes it vibrate.
During this period, some consumption behavior of Brazilian users of the platform could be observed.
The big franchises and iconic productions have a guaranteed place. The top 5 of the most watched this semester in Brazil include: Space Jam – A New Legacy, Godzilla Vs Kong, Mortal Kombat, the HBO series Game Of Thrones and Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone – three of the titles also stand out for being Warner Bros. films. Pictures, which arrived on the platform shortly after its film debut.
Direct from the DC Universe, the hero best received by Brazil was a heroine – Wonder Woman – whose film Wonder Woman 1984 is among the five most watched productions on the platform. For the little ones, the most popular productions on HBO Max are the animations Tom and Jerry, and Scooby! The film.
Among the series, after Game of Thrones, the most watched in this first semester were: Rick And Morty, Friends, The Big Bang Theory and Gossip Girl. Apparently, there is a preference for productions with a certain nostalgic appeal. No wonder, the special Friends: The Reunion was also one of the most watched productions in that period.
As Brazil is the country of football, live streams of matches from the UEFA Champions League, the biggest European championship continuing into 2022, are also among the most watched content on HBO Max.
Not coincidentally, the four most watched games so far were against Paris Saint-Germain: two of them against Manchester City; another facing German RB Leipzig; and one against the Belgian Club Brugge.
And if we’re talking about original local productions, the SANDY+CHEF series, which debuted in November, is the most successful local Max Original production to show.
