As much as it seems that what has to do with the world of Disney is necessarily related to children, anyone who enjoys all this magic in the form of a movie, series, documentary, short film (and much more) knows that this is not the case.
Disney Plus was launched not only in Brazil, but throughout Latin America in November 2020. In it, we find 5 cores – Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic. In other words, if you like princesses and castles, toys, super heroes, star wars and documentaries of secrets about animals and Planet Earth, this service is for you!
According to Variety, the streaming service has exceeded expectations regarding its growth for the first few months of this year, reaching a growth of 33% compared to 2021. Almost 8 million new customers have subscribed, totaling approximately 138 million subscribers.
Netflix, on the other hand, has not only lost a large number of subscribers, but is predicting a further decline this year. It was established in the year 1997, and just now it is losing rather than gaining new customers. This is, in addition to the growth of different and competing services, due to factors such as the end of the pandemic and the increase in prices for subscriptions to the streaming service.
The war between Russia and Ukraine, inflation itself, the sharing of passwords and accounts are some of the reasons that may have led the high number of Netflix subscribers to choose to cancel their account or switch to another service more affordable or with different options, moving away from the traditional. This is if we disregard that, recently, the Netflix owner removed some movies and series from the catalog that probably broke anyone’s heart. A Mister Intern and Modern Family are missing to this day…
Monthly, Disney Plus costs R$27.90. The Netflix Standard Plan, in turn, costs R$39.90. The difference of 12 reais becomes more evident when we multiply these values by 12. The most recent service totals R$334.80 while the oldest costs 478.80 reais per year, if we compare their more traditional plans. But then, what will be the future of the famous “Tudum”? What will the next semester hold for us?
