Announcement comes just over a year after the merger between Y&R and VML
Marcos Quintela renewed his contract with the WPP group and, as a result, he will continue as chairman of VMLY&R. According to the agency, the renewal takes place just over a year after the executive led the merger of the VML and Young & Rubicam brands in the country, with the support of CEO Fernando Taralli.
John Lynn, VMLY&R’s CEO for Latin America, stated that, from now on, Quintela will be more focused on strengthening customer relationships. “And in bringing to our communication deliveries the consumer experience tools that are increasingly crucial in the world of connected brands”, he says.
For Quintela, the challenge of ensuring a process of unification “smooth for our people and our customers, reinforcing VMLY&R’s creative culture and values such as collectivity, diversity and the power of social transformation”, he says.
Marcos Quintela started his career in the entertainment area, working as an artist and entrepreneur. In 2004, he founded a company specializing in promotional marketing, and the following year, he took over as Vice President of Customer Service and Operations at Y&R.
He was also Chief Operating Officer and President, before being elevated to the position of CEO of the then Newcomm Group (which in addition to Y&R and VML also included Gray and Wunderman).
