You probably have a morning routine. If I could only guess, this routine includes a cup of hot, neat coffee. It doesn’t matter if you prefer it with more sugar, less concentrate… even those that include milk are still in the classic way of drinking coffee.
But in recent months, Generation Z (and practically everyone who uses Pinterest, browses Instagram Reels or looks for “morning routines” on YouTube) have come across new ways to consume the most traditional drink in the country, and this trend seems be catching Even coffee shops are reinventing their aesthetic. Is the adaptation of younger people to the traditional way of drinking coffee here to stay?
The cold brew method
Come to think of it, it makes no sense for the Brazilian not to have adopted the cold brew method before. In a tropical country, it is a real adaptation to be able to drink such a hot drink every day.
The cold brew method is basically iced coffee. Like all other models, it adapts to your taste. Some people just add ice and some prefer milk and vanilla to the mix.
A sensation from the inspiring images of bloggers, the term “cold brew starbucks” has grown more than 90% in Google searches in the last 12 months.
@scheckeats you do NOT need any special equipment (I only showed the chemex as an option for straining, but you can do it with a coffee filter and a sieve just as well!) #coffee #icedcoffee #coldbrew #coldbrewconcentrate #latte #icedlatte ♬ Hey Lover – The Daughters Of Eve

coffee foodtechs
Foodtechs are companies looking for a more innovative or adapted way of producing food and beverages. Caffeine Army’s proposal is to combine microencapsulated caffeine with CoQ10, Green Coffee, Taurine, L-Tyrosine, TCM C8 and C10, enhancing the mood and energy we feel when drinking plain coffee.
With 379,000 Instagram followers, foodtech is attracting Brazilians to a new way to get addicted to coffee. Super Coffee 3.0, for example, serves as a pre-workout and also for studies, as according to its developers, it increases focus without causing hyperactivity.
ADNEWS contacted Murilo Allan, head of marketing at Caffeine Army, to talk about the expansion of this market in recent years.
“We at Caffeine Army believe that the market has grown considerably for 2 major reasons: As a matter of necessity due to the more hectic routines, double and even triple shifts throughout the day. There was a need for greater willingness, focus and concentration to be able to fulfill all these needs. Another point was the new solutions, or variations of coffee that appear on the market, making people value products more, such as our SuperCoffee”, he said.

minimalist coffee shops
Extravagance seems to have lost its place to the simplicity and “clarity” of the environments. With a less colorful, modern and elegant aesthetic, perfect for boosting Instagram stories, the new coffee shops of the moment seek to attract the attention of new generations with “less is more”.
“the coffee” is a Brazilian coffee shop founded by two people from Curitiba in 2017, and brings the perfectionism of Japan in a direct and clean way. It has 10 stores abroad out of 150 in total. By the end of 2022, the numbers are estimated to reach 40 stores out there out of a total of 330.
High prices, less celebration
Even with all the excitement on National Coffee Day, there is one factor that is discouraging Generation Z as they enter adulthood, as well as the older ones. It is the growing price increase in Brazil, the largest grain exporter in the world. According to IBRE-FGV, the price of soluble powder grew 62.36% in the last 12 months. So, here’s a reflection on how we can change this scenario to a more accessible and popular coffee day in the years to come.
