NGO Mães da Sé launches NFTs worth quadrillions of reais
The #Disappearing Childhood action aims to draw attention to the number of missing children in Brazil
The NGO Mães da Sé launched an action with NFTs that have the stipulated value, when converted to real, that exceed the quadrillions of reais.
The #Disappearing Childhood action will be launched on the International Day of the Missing Child (May 25) and wants to draw people’s attention to the following data: every day, 172 people disappear in Brazil, most of them children, according to the Brazilian Yearbook of Public Safety 2021.
According to the data, even in the period of the pandemic, Brazil recorded more than 63 thousand disappearances, making the statistic a disappearance every 3 minutes.
The NFTs created by the NGO are not, in fact, for sale. The link of the images leads to a crowdfunding to help the organization through donations.
“With people increasingly self-centered in their respective virtual avatars, we are forgetting about real-world problems and keeping ourselves increasingly myopic with causes that really matter”, said Eduardo Cabral, planning at WMcCann and one of the creators of the action.
With the pandemic, the NGO Mães da Sé returned to the structure it had when it was launched and currently has only the founder, Ivanise Esperidão, who has been looking for her daughter Fabiana since 12/25/1995.
“Maybe this is not the time to get lost in the digital world, using this provocation to cause reflection was the soul of this idea, everyone pays attention to speculation and NFT but not in the real world”, added João Lovise, creative at BFerraz and also creator of the action. .
Digital influencers strengthened the date and publicized the cause with posts of photos of children that add up to the more than 6,000 people missing in the NGO’s image bank.
