Milton Gonçalves passed away this Monday (May 30th), at the age of 88. In addition to being a great actor, Milton was also a director, singer, voice actor and producer and was part of major Brazilian productions that would definitely not be the same without his illustrious participation.
Milton had three children with Oda, his wife: Ada, Catarina and Maurício. The last mentioned followed in his father’s footsteps and also acted in several features such as “Auto da Compadecida”, for example, playing Jesus in purgatory.
The genius not only acted in several soap operas and television series, many of them from Globo itself, but also joined the cast of many films that are crucial to the world of cinema and its entire history. He received several awards for “Best Actor” and, of course, nothing below that would make sense when we are talking about Milton Gonçalves.
Born in 1933, Milton fought for the space of black actors on television and participated in the entire anti-racist trajectory in the media and in the television universe, in addition to leaving a true legacy that serves as an inspiration for each and every Brazilian.
