Getting close to Press Day, we decided to separate some campaigns that marked their creativity and social importance. We list 5 national and international campaigns launched by different journalistic vehicles that marked an era.
This is an Apple
Made by CNN, the campaign “This is an Apple”, translated into Portuguese, Isto é uma Maçã, was made to show the media vehicle’s commitment to the truth. In the video, an apple is presented, while the narrator states what that fruit is about. Regardless of what anyone says, she will remain an apple, remembering that, in the end, what matters are the facts.
Hitler at Folha de Sao Paulo
This time, we go back a little in time to one of the most outstanding campaigns of Folha de São Paulo. Made in 1987, this video won the Golden Lion at Cannes. In it, several apparently positive characteristics are given to a person, which little by little is revealed. The surprise in the end is that the individual in the case is Adolf Hitler, showing that just a snippet of information can give a very wrong impression.
Viewpoints
In another campaign a little older, this time made by The Guardian, the intention is to show that a different angle can change a lot what the facts seem to be. Called “Points of View”, the commercial shows a man being the victim of a crime, but that, on the other hand, the footage can be very different from what was expected.
Folha publishes, everyone replies
This time we have another Folha de São Paulo campaign, but a little more recent. It is common knowledge that the newspaper has some friction with the President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro. Therefore, the chief executive has already mentioned the name of Folha several times, and she took the opportunity to make a compilation, ending with the title phrase of the video “Folha publishes, everybody repics”.
Journalism and the pandemic
The pandemic was a remarkable moment for several professionals and, among them, journalists, who had to cover the moment closely. Globo made a special campaign showing the daily lives of these professionals during this period, which was broadcast on its main journalistic program by William Bonner.
