Valentine’s Day weekend coming up, and with prices the way they are out there, #stayadica a program to stay at home – under the covers, lol! There are 10 series, of the most diverse genres, that are available on various streaming services. You’re sure to find something to marathon. Take a look:
Outlander – Star Plus
Everyone loves this series (including me, who have read several of the books). For me, it’s one of the best book adaptations I’ve ever seen. Outlander tells the story of Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe), a married nurse who returns home after the end of World War II. But, she is mysteriously transported through time. She ends up in 1743, and her life takes risks she doesn’t know about. She is eventually forced to marry Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), a courteous and noble Scottish warrior. A passionate relationship ignites. And it leaves Claire’s heart torn between two completely different men, in two lives that cannot be reconciled. There are 6 seasons.
The Time Traveler’s Wife – HBO Max
Based on the book that also gave rise to the movie I Will Love You Forever. Since the age of six, Clare had seen a friend she considered imaginary. He was a kind and funny man, sometimes old, sometimes young, who appeared in the woods behind his house. There he told her stories of the future. But as the years passed, Clare began to realize that her friend wasn’t imaginary. He was rather a time traveler from the future. And not just any future, but your own future. After meeting up with Henry DeTamble as an adult, she understands that she will become the time traveler’s wife. The series is in its first season. There are currently four episodes available. On the 12th (Sunday) the fifth will debut.
Virgin River – Netflix
Adorable and romantic. It tells the story of Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckinridge, Jessie fromThe Walking Deada Sophie de This is Us), a nurse and midwife from Los Angeles who decides to restart her life away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. Responding to an ad, she ends up in Virgin River, a small country town. But the beginning is not easy, adaptation at the beginning is not easy.
Mayor Hope (Annette O’Toole, fromSmallville) has secured you a luxury cabin to live in – only it’s actually falling apart. In addition, she is (badly) received by a doctor (Tim Matheson, fromHart of Dixie) who doesn’t want her there. But over time, she wins everyone’s hearts. Especially when she gets to know Jack (Martin Henderson, fromGrey’s Anatomy), owner of the local bar. There are three seasons available. Two more have already been approved. The fourth will premiere on July 20.
Bridgerton – Netflix
Based on Julia Quinn’s bestselling books about a family living in Victorian London. The first season dealt with the romance of young Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) with Simon, the Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page). The second deals with his older brother Anthony’s (Jonathan Bailey) search for a bride. That’s when Edwina Sharma (Charithra Chandran, fromAlex Rider) and her sister Kate (the beautiful Simone Ashley, from Sex Education) arrive in London from India. And they’re both going to get involved with Anthony. The next season will show the romance of young Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton).
Sanditon – Globoplay
Sanditon is based on Jane’s last novel, which was left unfinished. It follows the journey of Charlotte Heywood (Rose Williams). This is an impulsive young woman who seeks to discover herself and find love on her own terms. When she helps a couple who have just been in an accident, Charlotte has no idea what could come of it. The couple offers to take her to her town, Sanditon, a beautiful seaside location. Once there, its host, Tom Parker (Kris Marshall), is determined to transform the place into a famous and modern beachfront resort. Charlotte is obviously fascinated by this new world. But everything changes when Sidney (Theo James), Tom’s charismatic but condescending brother, crosses her path. The second season is ready, but there is still no date to premiere in Brazil.
Normal People – Globoplay/ Starzplay
Normal People follows the comings and goings of Marianne and Connell, two young people from different backgrounds who fall in love with each other during different stages of their lives, such as high school in a small town in Ireland and university in Dublin. In the lead roles are Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal.
WandaVision – Disney Plus
Behind a superhero adventure is a beautiful love story. She accompanies Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and the Vision (Paul Bettany). After the events of Avengers: Endgame, the two are living an ideal suburban life. But they begin to suspect that not everything is as it seems. For me it was the best series I saw in 2021. It has one season.
Love Victor – Star Plus
hit movie spinoff Love Simon. Love, Victor shows the story of young Victor Salazar (Michael Cimino). New to Atlanta, Georgia, he has a chance to start over from scratch. He goes on to study at the renowned Creekwood High School. He makes new friends like Mia (Rachel Hilson), a friendly and popular girl. She quickly shows interest in him.
But everything gets complicated when Victor starts to take an interest in Benji (George Sear). He’s another high school boy with whom he has a lot in common. Victor is startled by what he begins to feel and questions his sexuality. That’s when he seeks refuge in Simon (Nick Robinson). He’s a former student who went through the same situation a year ago – in the movie. But he has more! As all this happens, secrets begin to emerge behind her parents’ story. And this causes great friction between family members. It has two seasons. The third and final will debut on the 15th.
Castle – Star Plus
I loved it, but the last season was a little lost. However, it’s worth it! Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) is a successful writer specializing in crime thrillers. After a series of crimes inspired by his novels, he attracts the attention of the police. Contact with law enforcement forces Castle to start work on a new book. And to do research for the new project, he takes on the role of consultant for the NYPD, working alongside Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic). There are 8 seasons.
Modern Love – Amazon Prime
The series tells a different story based on the stories in the New York Times chamada Modern Love . In it, guest writers write about a personal tale of love in its most diverse styles, formats, ages. Its podcast format is also known, where famous actors read the columns. All stories take place in New York. THE first season, overall, is very good. already the Monday it is much weaker.
