Between the 16th and 19th of June, the sixth edition of the WME Conference took place – the largest Brazilian conference focused on female protagonism in the music world. Among more than 40 hours of content and celebrating the return to face-to-face – in addition to complementing the live broadcast for the website – the event brought names such as Teresa Cristina, consecrated as godmother of the edition, Tulipa Ruiz, Letticia Munniz, MC Carol, Bebé, Aíla, Karol Conká, Carol Navarro, Karina Buhr, Manu Gavassi, MEL, BiVolt, Nicole Balestro, Titi Muller, Larissa Luz, Drica Lara, Paula Lima, Isadora Silveira, Alana Leguth, Letícia Tomás, Cristina Becker, among other guest artists and special attractions.
With expressive numbers, the conference impacted more than 2 thousand people in person and hit the mark of 5 thousand views in the live broadcast on the website. The digital audience spread to 10 countries: Brazil, United States, South Korea, Singapore, Spain, Argentina, Austria, Finland, Ireland and Portugal.
On Thursday, the opening party heated up the Heavy House dancefloor, in Pinheiros, with Rafa Jazz, Julia Weck, DJ Donna, Tati Laser, Carlu and Cecyza. The kick-off in the phygital circuit – which, in addition to the Heavy House, occupied four other spaces in São Paulo – opened the way for important conversations at the Mário de Andrade Library the following day.
The highlight of Friday, the 17th, was the panel Discography – Artists talk about the creative process and release strategy of their recently released albums with the participation of Manu Gavassi, who alongside Isadora Silveira, executive producer of F/Simas , and mediated by journalist and broadcaster Fabiana Ferraz, told about Gracinha’s creative process. Manu’s latest visual album was scripted as a short story and released via Disney Plus streaming, a super production that mobilized more than 200 people in complex logistics during the pandemic. In 17 days of production in Ouro Preto (MG), Manu saw the work as building his own legacy as an artist. “Gracinha is a step towards my autonomy as an artist”, he said.
Teresa Cristina, sponsor of the edition, participated in an exciting Q&A with Claudia Assef, journalist and founder of WME, in the Library’s auditorium. The samba singer and songwriter told about her musical influences, a gift from her parents Luiz Alberto Gomes da Conceição and Hilda Macedo who have always been very musical and introduce her to this universe. Resuming the memories of her early career and childhood, the carioca got emotional and ended the conversation singing Dona Ivone Lara, better known as the queen of samba.
On the third day of the event, the Mynd panel presented digital influence as a fundamental piece in the construction of society in the field of music, politics, health, sexuality and lifestyle, brought together model and presenter Letticia Munniz, Malu Barbora (artistic director at Mynd, and director of marketing and new business at LIGA), presenter Titi Muller and former BBB and teacher Jessilaine in a chat. Speaking about the world of influencer marketing, Jessi punctuated her experience: “Nowadays people see the power of influence because of the internet. But even before I joined BBB I was already an influencer. I am a teacher and for me teachers are the great influences in our lives”.
Also on Saturday, the Mário de Andrade Library hosted one of the most anticipated panels of the edition: back to back between Karol Conká and MC Carol, with the mediation of journalist and presenter Didi Couto. The conversation about mental health went through topics such as romantic relationships, the return to real life after Karol’s participation in the reality show two years ago and of course, it was watered with a laugh that only a conversation between friends could provide.
The closing was also in charge of the two singers, who together with Kaê Guajajara animated the event celebrating the return to face-to-face after two years of the remote event. All panels will soon be available for viewing for those who purchased the phygital conference ticket. Content is available for 30 days after the event ends.
