Creating a more inclusive online space means increasing investment to support the work of creators of groups with less representation on the internet. Last year, Pinterest announced the Creator Fund, a program to uplift creators and communities that have been disproportionately underrepresented on the platform, in the United States. Today, Pinterest is launching the first version of the program in Brazil.
The Creators Fund’s mission is to lower the barrier to success on Pinterest for creators from historically marginalized communities, through financial and educational support. 10 content creators over the age of 18, residing in Brazil, with less than 10,000 followers on their digital platforms and who identify as part of the black, LGBTQ+, Asian, indigenous or disabled community will be selected.
In addition to receiving around R$30,000 in the form of a cash and equipment subsidy, creators will have four virtual training sessions to develop their creative potential on the platform, a best practices workshop, access to the creator community, and connection to monetization opportunities. .
The Content Creator Fund starts in August and lasts for approximately three months. To apply, you must live in Brazil, be over 18, have less than 10,000 followers on your digital platforms, and identify yourself as part of an underrepresented community. Applications are open from the 4th to the 15th of July 2022at 22:00 (Brasilia time).
According to Fernanda Cerávolo, director of content and creators at Pinterest for Latin America:
“Brazil is very culturally rich, and we want to exalt and promote all this diversity. The arrival of the Creator Fund in the country allows us to do not only that, but also to invest in diverse content, elevate creators from groups with less representation and give them back some of the dedication to Pinterest, which plays an essential role in being a more inclusive, positive and safe.”
One of the special guests is Tastemade, who will talk about the most important metrics, content planning and how to maintain the level of quality in productions. In addition to Tastemade, some of the classes will be taught by market experts: Marcel Izidoro, with creativity and storytelling, and Dia Estúdio, with content monetization and partnerships with brands.
