With Corebiz, the group intends to strengthen its operations in ecommerce in Latin America
The WPP group has a new asset on Brazilian soil, the e-commerce agency Corebiz. The new member, which operates throughout Latin America and has more than 600 professionals, will be connected to the VMLY&R Commerce network, launched in November 2020 as a result of the merger between MLY&R and Geometry.
The purchase is in line with the group’s strategy of accelerating the growth of commerce, creating an offer of services that help in the direct relationship between customers and consumers. Last year, it was recognized as a leading trading services company by Forrester Wave, managing more than $40 billion in direct GMV (gross volume of goods) and $20 billion in market GMV for customers.
“Companies, both in Latin America and around the world, are looking to increase their e-commerce capabilities, having seen in the last two and a half years the impact that strong digital commerce strategies can have on business growth,” explained Stefano Zunino. , Country Manager of WPP in Brazil, about the motivation for the business.
Founded in 2013, Corebiz currently operates under three main pillars. Acquisition, from creating visual elements to conducting targeted SEO; conversion, including CRO and full stack development; and loyalty, from CRM system implementation to consumer data management and campaign execution. Its customers include brands such as Whirlpool, Casino Group, Walmart, Carrefour and Decathlon.
“In recent years, we have actively participated in the acceleration of the e-commerce market in Latin America. Now, our goal is to take this expertise to the rest of the world. This will only be improved with the union of WPP and the VMLY&R Commerce network”, say Felipe Macedo and Renan Mota, founders and Co-CEOs of Corebiz.
The two executives remain at the head of the operation, stitching together the integration with the group. They start reporting to VMLY&R Commerce in New York, where the network’s leaders are located.
