According to the self-regulatory body, both the advertiser and the singer recognized the notes and made the changes.
In a decision of the Ethics Council, Conar (National Council for Advertising Self-Regulation) recommended that the Better Drinks campaign, led by countryman Gusttavo Lima, be suspended. The complaints, two, were made by the Public Ministry of Bahia and by Abrabe (Brazilian Association of Beverages).
The allegations presented by the whistleblowers are the lack of an age gate (a device that questions the age of the user, a requirement of Conar), pieces with ‘excessive consumption’ of alcoholic beverages, imperative appeal of alcohol.
In addition, the advertiser received a warning for not complying with a preliminary injunction, recommended during the process. According to Conar, there was a delay in complying with the organ’s order.
Called ‘Vermelhão’, the drink is the result of a partnership between the countryman and the Better Drinks brand. As reported by Conar, both the advertiser and Gusttavo Lima acknowledged the recommendations and made the requested changes.
